Weight Loss: Back to Basics

People are becoming more and more health conscious, but unfortunately we are in a society that is overwhelmed with diet fads, gimmicks, and quick fixes. There is information and product constantly coming out on the quick fix to lose weight, get fit, get healthy, and everything else under the sun.

How did we survive as a society before all this endless information?

Well, it all comes down to getting back to the basics. There is no magic pill, product or equipment out there that is going to make you thin, make you fit, or make you well. If you are looking for change for your body and your health, you need to change some things in your lifestyle.

Let’s take weight loss as an example.

Many of us want to lose weight but find it very hard to do, so we keep looking for that magic and quick way to “fix” us. We do not need to be “fixed”, but rather work on altering our current lifestyle to make long lasting change. Weight loss is a simple equation of in versus out. If you consume less calories than your body needs and burns off, you will lose weight.

Now, in saying that, the “in” should be of quality nutrients that your body needs. Eat Real Food!! Don’t decrease your calories by drinking some magic drink or taking some pills. Our bodies were meant to digest real food and not just “filler” or empty calorie foods such as sugars and refined and processed foods, but wholesome and non or less processed foods.

The “out” should also be of quality and quantity. This means you need to work!! There is no magic way to get the exercise your body needs. You need to move! Everyone can do some form of exercise. You need to find the right type of exercise program that is going to meet your weight loss or other health goals. Every body is different and will respond to exercise differently. Once you have determined your type of exercise, you need to ensure you are getting enough. The weekend warrior workouts (www) are NOT going to cut it! Make the time to complete your equation of “out” in your lifestyle.
